Many of Helen’s friends say that she is unable to say “no” in response to any request for help. Not surprisingly, Helen has volunteered for a number of organizations including serving as treasurer of the FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the outreach committee of her church in Southern Pines, and spent many hours volunteering at her children’s schools.
Helen currently serves on the Sandhills Community College Board of Trustees. Her commitment to her service comes from her mother. Helen understands the need for giving back to our communities, and as your State Senator, she will make our communities a priority in Raleigh.

Taking Action

Helen has fought tough battles including turning the loss of her infant son into advocacy and support for others who have also suffered such a devastating loss. While battling breast cancer, Helen made it a priority to be there for her children from packing their lunches, to helping with homework, to creating songs to comfort them. In both life changing situations, Helen got through her battles because of her community. Now, she wants to serve her community in the State Senate so they have an advocate in their corner.
